Healthy Ashtabula County

Healthy Ashtabula County is Ashtabula County’s community health improvement process. It is an ongoing effort that brings together county government agencies, county hospital systems, minority health programs/initiatives, advocacy groups, academic institutions, community-based service providers, and other stakeholders to achieve optimal health and well-being for all Ashtabula County residents.

Comprised of Ashtabula County Public and Private Partnerships, Healthy Ashtabula County is the implementation arm of the 2023-2025 Community Health Improvement Plan – a long-term, systematic effort to address public health problems based on the results of community health assessment activities and the community health improvement process. Our top-ranked priority areas are Obesity, Access to Care, and Depression and Anxiety Prevention and Treatment.

Our mission is to improve the health status of Ashtabula County residents through implementation of the Ashtabula County Health Improvement Plan.
We envision a community where all residents can reach their optimal mental and physical health.

With the Summer months coming up, the Conneaut City Health Department would like to share this research article on Carbon Monoxide Exposure Potential Associated with Recreational Watercraft.
ewscripps.brightspotcdn

In 2017, more than 142 million people in the U.S. participated in recreational boasting, which represents an increase from 67.5 million people in 2000 and 87.3 million in 2014. From 2002- 2011, the number of CO-related deaths associated with recreational boating in the U.S. averaged 6.7 per year, with cabin motorboats accounting for 53.7% of these deaths. From 2005-2018, there were 167 CO-related deaths reported by the U.S. Coast Guard and entered into the Boating Accident Report Database.  These data account for CO-related exposures associated with auxiliary boat equipment, boat exhaust from other vessels, and exhaust of the vessel on which persons were either aboard or in close proximity at the time of the accident.
