Nick Sanford is a 2003 graduate of Edgewood High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Youngstown State University in 2008. Nick is a fifth-generation native of Conneaut, the first in his immediate family to attend university and earn a post-secondary degree, and is married to the former Jennifer Lillash, a third-grade teacher in the Mentor Public Schools system. With their two Golden Retrievers, Frankie and Louie, the Sanford's are members of Corpus Christi Parish in Conneaut, where Mr. Sanford has been a vocal musician for over 20 years. In past holiday seasons, the  City Manager could be heard performing at the “Voices of Hope” concert at the Conneaut Human Resources Center, where he served on the Board of Directors from 2010 to 2014; he also served on the Boards of Directors of the Conneaut Arts Center, the Corpus Christi Parish Pastoral Planning Council, and the Conneaut Foundation, as well as the Edgewood Alumni Association, and was a 2019 LEADERship Ashtabula County graduate. In 2018, he was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Second Ward Councilmember on Conneaut City Council and was a voting member on such legislation as the application for $19.5 million in federal funding relating to the recently completed Conneaut Harbor Dredge Facility, as well as the Port Connector Project, which is intended to connect Conneaut Harbor directly to Interstate 90.

About the City Manager Position
The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to manage the day-to-day operations of the City. He/she coordinates, prepares, and disseminates information to assist the City Council decision making process.
The City Manager facilitates communication between the citizens and government and is the principal spokesperson for the city. He/she develops and implements administrative policies and guidelines in conjunction with the City Council and various City Boards and Commissions.

Duties
The City Manager exercises general and administrative supervision over all City departments, prepares and administers the City's annual budget, and advocates community development.
